How the calculator works

Patreon's fees come in layers (Patreon Help Center). On the standard plan for pages published after August 4, 2025, Patreon takes a 10% platform fee, payment processing comes out of each payment, a 2.5% conversion fee applies to payments in a different currency from your payout currency, and a payout fee is deducted when your balance is transferred to you.

  • Members pay = paying members × monthly price, plus one-time purchases × their average price.
  • Platform fee = what members pay × your plan's rate (10% standard).
  • Processing = what members pay × the percentage rate, plus the fixed fee × the number of payments.
  • Currency conversion = 2.5% × the share of payments made in another currency.
  • You take home = what members pay − platform fee − processing − conversion − one monthly payout fee.

Patreon also collects VAT, GST or sales tax on its platform fee where the law requires it, which this calculator leaves out. If you sell through Patreon's iOS app outside US memberships, Apple's 30% in-app purchase fee applies instead of payment processing.

Worked examples

Three sets of inputs on the standard 10% plan, US card payments at 2.9% + $0.30, no currency conversion, and one bank-transfer payout a month. They show how the math works, not typical or expected Patreon earnings.

ExampleMembers payPlatform fee (10%)ProcessingPayout feeYou keep / monthShare kept
A: 100 members at $5$500$50$44$0.25$40581%
B: 300 members at $7 plus 20 sales of $10$2,300$230$163$0.25$1,90783%
C: 1,000 members at $10$10,000$1,000$590$0.25$8,41084%

The fixed $0.30 per payment is why low prices cost proportionally more: in example A it's 6% of every $5 payment on top of the 2.9%.

Patreon payout fees

  • Bank transfer (US, through Stripe): $0.25 per payout.
  • PayPal: 1% of the amount, minimum $0.25, capped at $20; $10 minimum balance to pay out.
  • Payoneer (non-US, paid in dollars): $1 per payout; $25 minimum to pay out.
